Seda Mergen –
Masters of Counselling Psychology

In Seda’s (she/her) work as a psychologist she has seen despair, fear, entrenched patterns of dysfunctional behaviour, as well as post-traumatic growth, strengthened connections, and humans’ remarkable capacity for courage and resilience.
She is passionate about supporting individuals to increase their self-awareness, and grow their confidence.

Background and Experience

Seda is a registered psychologist with a warm and inclusive approach to therapy. Seda holds a Master’s degree in Counselling Psychology and has worked across education, community, and youth mental health settings.

Her priority is helping clients feel heard, understood, and empowered to make meaningful changes in their lives.

Seda works with both young people and adults, supporting them through a wide range of challenges including:

Anxiety, including long-term anxiety and OCD

Depression and mood difficulties

Trauma, PTSD, and complex trauma

Stress and adjustment to life changes

Relationship and family issues

Grief and loss

Body image concerns

Bipolar disorder

Women’s mental health, including perinatal mental health and premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD)

Navigating mental health while being neurodivergent (e.g., autism, ADHD)

Seda also works with neurodivergent clients who are also navigating mental health difficulties. She brings a neuroaffirming, trauma-sensitive lens to her work. Seda’s extensive experience in youth mental health, has develop a deep understanding of young people’s development and emotional wellbeing.

Seda’s therapeutic approach is grounded in evidence-based methods such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), EMDR, and Schema Therapy, with a strong focus on mindfulness, emotional regulation, and creating a space where clients feel genuinely safe.

Seda is bilingual in English and Turkish and welcomes clients from all cultural backgrounds and walks of life. Creating a warm, inclusive, and trauma-sensitive space is at the heart of Seda’s work.

Seda offers appointments on:
Mondays, Thursdays, and Fridays in Coburg and Saturdays in Carlton North.
Telehealth sessions are also available.
