Michelle Ferguson –
Clinical Psychologist MPsych (Clinical)

Michelle is a highly experienced clinical psychologist who supports youth and adults feeling overwhelmed, burnt out, or struggling to keep up with the demands of daily life. She works with people experiencing anxiety, low mood, stress, and emotional exhaustion — particularly when it starts to feel like life has become something to simply get through rather than enjoy.

Alongside this, Michelle brings significant experience working with more complex presentations, including individuals navigating suicidal thoughts, high levels of distress, and periods of crisis. This means she is well-equipped to support clients when things feel intense, overwhelming, or difficult to put into words — while maintaining a strong focus on safety, stability, and compassionate care.

Therapeutic Approach

Michelle takes a thoughtful and flexible approach to therapy, drawing on a range of evidence-based treatments including:
Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT)
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT)
Schema Therapy

Michelle focuses on understanding each person’s unique experiences, patterns, and pressures and helping them develop practical, sustainable ways forward.

Experience

Michelle brings extensive experience across hospital and community mental health settings, both in Australia and internationally.

She has worked as a Senior Clinical Psychologist in a hospital-based outreach program supporting individuals following some of the most challenging periods of their lives. Her work included safety planning, collaborative risk assessment, and short-term therapeutic care using the Collaborative Assessment and Management of Suicidality (CAMS) framework, alongside close coordination with families, GPs, and multidisciplinary teams.

Michelle has also worked across child, adolescent, and disability services, conducting psychological and cognitive assessments and supporting individuals with a wide range of mental health and developmental needs. These experiences have shaped her ability to work flexibly and sensitively with people at different stages of life.

Michelle is available for in-person or telehealth appointments Monday and Tuesday in Kew East.
