Libby (she/her) has completed her Masters in Counselling Psychology and has a background in nursing, combining a unique blend of skills. She is a compassionate psychologist dedicated to helping individuals navigate the challenges of mental health. Her warm and caring nature makes her clients feel heard and understood.

Background and Experience

With over 40 years of diverse healthcare experience, Libby Perkins stands out for her unique ability to bridge the gap between physical health and mental well-being.

As both a registered nurse and a general psychologist, she brings an unparalleled depth of knowledge and insight to her practice. Throughout her extensive career as a nurse, Libby works across a broad spectrum of acute medical and surgical fields. This clinical background has given her a keen understanding of the challenges patients face in managing chronic physical and mental health conditionsand it forms the foundation for her psychology practice.

Libby is trauma informed, LGBTQIA+ affirmative and an advocate of women’s mental health. Libby oozes empathy and understanding as she has seen and experienced the human struggles that occur at every stage of life. She takes an integrative approach to therapy, tailoring evidence-based treatments to each patient’s unique needs.

Libby has supported children as young as 9 y.o through to older adults with:

She is trained in CBT, ACT, DBT, ERP, Schema Therapy and EMDR. Libby facilitates group therapy at one of Australia’s largest psychiatric hospitals having running OCD, trauma and DBT programs.

Libby offers in-person or telehealth appointments on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays and alternate Saturdays at our Carlton North location.
